22 August 2017Annual Par 3 DayTODAY: was our annual par 3 Tournament. After over 90 ml of rain in the last 2 weeks, we fluked a glorious, sunny, still day. Amazing! We ended up with 105 players after 3 very late withdrawals (too late to replace from our emergency list). The club house and course looked fabulous and the whole place was abuzz. It was all very exciting, and a huge endeavour, with everything going smoothly. It\'s a special feeling for all of us to be part of a team that can put together such a successful event. Well done to all of our ladies who willingly contributed by setting up in the clubhouse, making the delicious sweets. bringing flowers, showing our visitors to their tee, preparing the food and cleaning up afterwards. Thank you to our green keeper Hayden Plowman, who prepared the course beautifully, in spite of the wet days, and the frosty morning. Special appreciation goes to Grace Parkinson and Liz Turang for their preparations towards feeding 120 people - not a simple task, and to our ever efficient treasurer Jenny McSwain. For myself, a big thank you and pat on the back to my Match Committee ladies - Joan Gibbs, Denise Murphy, Marg Scoble, and Bron Dwyer. You were fantastic! Enough thank yous for now... The results today were most interesting. I have attached the list of prizewinners to this email for you to see. There was one stand out player today, and that was Sue Byrne from Trentham, who not only won 4 NTPs, she was also the best gross winner - not bad off a handicap of 15. Sue went home with $900 value in gift cards, a good day\'s work! Her marker will be having a party soon, as she took home 5 bottles of champagne (for those that don\'t know, the marker of a prize winner is given a bottle of champagne). Amongst our Kyneton players we had some stars. Best Nett Score, a prize of $500 value, was won by our own Jenny Kerr, 81-40-41. Best Nett Runner Up ($250 value) was Helen Claverdon-Jones, 86-42-44, another fantastic result. We featured in the NTPs too. Congrats to Bron Dwyer, who won two NTPs, and to Robyn MacRae, Jan Laidlaw, and Banksie Buckley, one each. In the nett competition. Lois Johnston and Bron Dwyer also scored nett 50 or less. In the Gross competition, Denise Murphy and Bron Dwyer both scored 69, just one stroke shy of the prizemoney.
